Introducing our new Sync Service
Service downtime and unreliability create an unpleasant user experience, so we’re continuously improving our system architecture to ensure uninterrupted service. Working to that end, we’re releasing our Sync Service, which acts as an intermediary between Prerender and our Global Data Network (GDN).
The Sync Service sits between Prerender and our GDN, acting as an intermediary by consolidating multiple Prerender services into a single WebSocket connection before connecting to the GDN, improving overhead management and performance.
Benefits of the Sync Service
- Improved Connection and Performance: Merging multiple Prerender services into a single WebSocket connection instead of creating different connections for every Prerender service reduces network overhead, thus improving connection management and performance.
- Fault tolerance, resilience, and reliability: With the Sync Service, multiple instances form a connection to an intermediary server instead of directly to the GDN, ensuring that Prerender services remain operational even if the GDN encounters issues, thus maintaining service availability and reliability.
- Reduced load on GDN: Consolidating multiple services into a single service while using an intermediary service reduces the load on GDN, resulting in higher performance and reduced latency for querying and using the Macrometa GDN cloud services.
Improved security and access with the Auth service
Managing user permissions is crucial for maintaining service safety and security; the latest update to our Auth service assures this. The Auth service creates and maintains role-based access control and permissions, ensuring the security, compliance, and smooth auditing of your Prerender instance.
Better configuration management with the editable GUI
Our editable GUI now offers non-technical users an easier way to create and manage Prerender configurations. The GUI provides a friendly, intuitive user interface that allows you to perform the following tasks:
- Manage Origins: Create and manage your origin URLs
- Implement Synthetic Interactions: Use synthetic interactions like scroll and click to improve content visibility.
- Configure Advanced Settings: Use the Advanced Settings tab to influence how Prerender renders your pages. The advanced settings allow you to manage your URL block lists, dictate redirect behavior, and more.
- Schedule Prerender with Prefetching: Configure page rendering on schedule with the Prefetching strategy.
Greater flexibility with follow redirects
Guide how Prerender handles redirects with Follow Redirects. This feature allows you to redirect all, some, or none of the redirection status codes based on your set strategy.
Resolved issues
- Reduce load on your GDN server by aggregating and serving metrics every minute instead of pushing per request.
- Update the URL block list with the URLs of the Pinterest and TikTok beacons/tags. The URL block list improves page rendering speed and reduces the chances of malware attacks.
- Remove the feature of the entire cache purge.
